New ger for a homeless family

The Ganbaatar family from Khentii province moved to the capital Ulaanbaatar in 2008 due to illness of the father. On December 22, 2012, the family became homeless due to a fierce, raging fire. The living tent and all personal belongings were lost and the family, consisting of father Tsend Ganbaatar, mother Odtsetseg and the children Otgonbayar (13), Otgonsuvd (11), Nomin-erdene (6) and Enkh-Amgalan (5), came standing on the street in winter.

In September 2013, the Steppekinderen Foundation received a copy of the fire brigade’s report of the accident and a request from the district head to help the stricken family, who still did not have their own accommodation. Thanks to a generous gift from Jan and Carla Kersseboom from Zeeland, we were able to build a large living tent for the Ganbaatar family. The family is overjoyed with the new ger.

Help underprivileged children in Mongolia
Since 2006, the foundation tries to improve the situation of the children in Mongolia each year. Thanks to donations and collection campaigns, we have built 26 gers (living shelters).
Even a relatively small amount of money can do a lot, because in Mongolia, where many herders earn barely twenty euros a month, your money is worth more than five times that!
Thank you to all who support our small but important work!
