Support for mother and sick son

Ms. Battsetseg Jijigee is 45 years old, has no paid work and lives in Ulaanbaatar with her 20-year-old son Munkhbold, who is highly dependent.

The son was born with a brain disorder and has epileptic seizures two to three times a week, sometimes loses consciousness. Because these seizures are more likely to cause accidents, the mother must remain nearby to watch over him at all times. She has to take care of him all day, because Munkhbold can hardly do anything himself. Battsetseg receives a minimum benefit from social services, which she and her son have to manage. This allowance is approximately fifty euros per month; until recently, one third of this was spent on renting a living tent (ger), leaving her with very little money to live on.

The new ger is being built

In collaboration with the Josephina Foundation, who contributed the amazing amount of €2,500, the Steppekinderen Foundation has financed her own ger for mother and son, so that she now has enough money left over to live a better life.

The ger was delivered in January 2015.

Help underprivileged children in Mongolia

Since 2006, the foundation tries to improve the situation of the children in Mongolia each year. Thanks to donations and collection campaigns, we have built 26 gers (living shelters).

Even a relatively small amount of money can do a lot, because in Mongolia, where many herders earn barely twenty euros a month, your money is worth more than five times that!
