Help for Myagmar family

When Tuvendorje Myagmar died in 2014 due to a serious illness at the age of 34, his wife Jargalsaihan was left alone with their four children. She then worked as a street sweeper in Ulaanbaatar, but lost her job three years later. That same year, a violent snow storm destroyed the family’s living tent.
They had to build a meager hut from the remains which luckily still offered some shelter and by collecting firewood every day for the stove in the tent in the mountains, they managed to survive the winter.

Since the death of her husband, Jargalsaihan lives with her children on a benefit of barely seventy euros a month. In recent years, the family was forced to live in a rental tent, but that left insufficient money to live on. Fortunately, shoes and children’s clothing are very cheap on the (black) market in Ulaanbaatar, because they are imported from China at dump prices.

Naranbat, the eldest son, is now 18 years old and the eldest daughter, Shurentsetseg, is 16. The youngest son, Altanshagai, is 10 years old and Erdenechimeg, the youngest daughter, is 8. The children go to school, but the money is missing for some school supplies. In June 2019, the Steppekinderen family received a beautiful living tent (ger) that our employee set up in the outskirts of the city of Ulaanbaatar. An extensive photo series shows the various phases of the construction and delivery of the tent.

Help underprivileged children in Mongolia
Since 2006, the foundation tries to improve the situation of the children in Mongolia each year. Thanks to donations and collection campaigns, we have built 26 gers (living shelters).
Even a relatively small amount of money can do a lot, because in Mongolia, where many herders earn barely twenty euros a month, your money is worth more than five times that!
Thank you to all who support our small but important work!
