In the summer of 2021, the family of Davaa M. and Bayajikh K. from the Steppekinderen Foundation received their own living tent.

Davaa, the father of the family, does not have a permanent profession, but earns his money by doing odd jobs on a building site during the summer months when there is work again. The mother, Bayajikh, takes care of the family.

Their three daughters are 18, 12 and 4 years old and their son is 7 years old. Their fourth daughter died of a serious illness three years ago. The high costs of healthcare brought the affected family to the brink of financial ruin.

Until recently, the family rented a living tent (ger) and therefore didn’t have enough money to live on and to send the children to school.

Thanks to the help of the Steppekinderen Foundation, they now manage to make ends meet financially and the children can go back to school.

Help underprivileged children in Mongolia

Since 2006, the foundation tries to improve the situation of the children in Mongolia each year. Thanks to donations and collection campaigns, we have built 26 gers (living shelters).

Even a relatively small amount of money can do a lot, because in Mongolia, where many herders earn barely twenty euros a month, your money is worth more than five times that!
