Family gets ger

In September, the Steppekinderen Foundation had a sturdy ger built for the family of Chuluuntsetseg G., a single mother with five children between 16 and 1 years old.

She was abandoned by her husband, has not been able to get a paid job and must try to get by on the minimal government support she receives monthly for the care of her children.

The family lived for years in a dilapidated house from 1940 that provided insufficient protection against the merciless winter cold and in which rain and meltwater had free play through leaks.

Three of her children - two sons and a daughter - live with her, the middle son has left with his father and the oldest daughter lives with her grandmother.

The new ger, which has been artistically painted with traditional symbols of good luck by our employee in Ulaanbaatar, was put into use in early September.

Help underprivileged children in Mongolia

Since 2006, the foundation tries to improve the situation of the children in Mongolia each year. Thanks to donations and collection campaigns, we have built 26 gers (living shelters).

Even a relatively small amount of money can do a lot, because in Mongolia, where many herders earn barely twenty euros a month, your money is worth more than five times that!
